Why couples use SaferStart

Carrier status is usually invisible
Most people who carry inherited gene variants have no symptoms and no family history.

Risk depends on both partners
Only when both partners carry the same variant does it create a chance of passing on a genetic condition.

Knowing earlier creates options
Finding out before pregnancy allows time to explore options. For couples identified as being at risk, this can include working with specialists and using IVF with genetic testing to have a healthy child.

Screening estimates chances; it is not a diagnostic test and cannot detect all genetic conditions. A negative result lowers, but does not completely remove risk.
